Educator, Lecturer, Workshop Host, and Guest Speaker
Along with his broad experience as a composer, sound designer, rerecording mixer and educator Dennis has developed a range of experience sharing with students and professional alike. From developing specialized educational sound programs to presenting public talks, panel guest, mentoring individuals, and consultations on projects, Dennis has a deep interest in sharing his passion for sound as an art form particularly at it applies to the moving image.
Over his teaching career Dennis has developed and delivered a number of Programs and courses that incorporate sound and art with a focus on investigating the creative possibilities of sound in Design, Media, and Visual Art. Many of these Programs apply equal attention to theory and practice structured to provide the technical and creative skills required to foster a professional understanding of the medium while incorporating a depth of critical and creative understanding around the issues. Research interests include acoustic communication (Truax), sound and the moving image (Chion, Weis, Thom, Murch), sound and cognition (Tagg), and recently binaural and interactive installations.
